Shop More in Lancaster on The BLVD
The City of Lancaster and The BLVD Association joined together this afternoon to announce the launch of the City’s annual “Shop More in Lancaster” campaign, which encourages residents to shop local. While the annual campaign takes place during the holiday season, it also serves as a reminder that year-round, dollars spent in Lancaster, stay in Lancaster.
Shopping locally benefits the community by increasing sales tax revenue, which in turn funds local parks, roads, public safety and other important local initiatives. Any business located within the City limits, auto dealer, “big box” or “mom n’ pop,” constitutes a local Lancaster business, and funds spent at these businesses get funneled right back into the community.
“The holiday season is a time when friends and family get together to exchange gifts of love and appreciation. There is no better place to find these gifts than right here in Lancaster,” said Mayor Parris. “We strongly encourage the community to not only show love for their friends and family this season, but to also show love for our City by ensuring that their hard-earned dollars stay here to benefit our community.”
During the holidays, residents receive many special deals and offers from local businesses, as well as creative gift ideas that can be purchased in Lancaster. In addition, residents will be informed of a number of special BLVD Association events, as well as how they can use these opportunities to give back to the community while having fun with friends, family and holiday guests.
“We have a number of fun events lined up that are sure to spread the joy and provide residents with more opportunities to ‘Shop Local’ this holiday season,” said Tim Anders, President of The BLVD Association and owner of BeX Bar & Grill. “There is no better way to give back to the community than to purchase and play right here in Lancaster.”
In the coming weeks, be sure to invite friends and family for a day of holiday shopping on The BLVD and throughout the City, and prepare for those holiday feasts at your local grocery stores. It is easy to give to loved ones while simultaneously giving back to the community- all you have to do is shop close to home. Give gifts that keep on giving by Shopping More in Lancaster.
“Here in Lancaster, and in the downtown area alone, we have an eclectic collection of businesses which make shopping local fun and easy,” said Bob Turner, BLVD Association Board Member and owner of Aven’s Fine Home Furnishings on Lancaster BLVD. “It’s the community’s choice to keep our economy thriving and it’s as simple as shopping here in town- every dollar spent locally makes a difference.”
